Abstract

"The goal of this work consists of increasing the safety while driving without losing comfort. For this purpose a semi active system has been conceived taking in count the aspects of manufacture and assembly. Further a first dimensioning of the parameters for the magnetic circuit has been made. The passive stabilizer bar works as a torsion spring trying to compen-sate the different camber angles of the wheels and enhancing drive stability. The mechanical behavior of this passive part can not be changed. The semi active actuator uses a damping chamber filled with a magnetorheological fluid (MRF), which is pushed trough a small flow gap by a rotating blade. The damping force can be directly affected by creating of a magnetic field applied on the flow gap in order to change the dynamic viscosity of the MRF. A mag-netic coil is used to generate the magnetic flux needed for this intention. The number of turns of the magnetic coil has been calculated, so the system operation can be possible by con-suming an electrical power of 5-20Watts."
